Junior Church
Rochester Cathedral Sunday Club
Children of all ages are very welcome to join the Cathedral Sunday Club. We meet most Sunday mornings, in the Ithamar Chapel, down in the crypt at 10.30am.
After some games, songs and a time of sharing, we split into three different age groups and go to different areas for the rest of the session. We usually have lots of fun learning about God in a variety of ways, for example: through bible and other stories, discussion, drama, craft, cooking, games and prayer.
We also have different events throughout the year, including:
- an Easter egg hunt
- a donkey procession
- a summer picnic with games
- outings
- children’s services
- a Christmas party
The three groups within Sunday Club are:
Little Seekers – age 0-6 years (year 1)
After an initial time of sharing, Little Seekers stay in the Ithamar Chapel for their session.Discoverers – age 6 upwards
This group usually moves to another part of the crypt for their session.Crazy Frogs – age 11 upwards
This group either meets in the Crypt or occasionally at Garth House or East Canonry.
Junior Worship
On the first Sunday of most months there is a less formal service in the Ithamar Chapel aimed at children of all ages, ie children, young people and their families. A music group provides musical accompaniment and visiting Speakers and other Church groups are often invited to lead worship. The forthcoming 2008 programme includes:

Children and Holy Communion
The Exploring Holy Communion Course is running again this year, with 14 children participating. The first Communion Service will be on 22nd June at 10.30am. Please do come and support the young people involved.
Summer Outing
This year, we have planned a summer outing to the sea-side at Dymchurch. The date is Sunday 6th July from 10.30am to 3pm. We already know that high tide is 3pm, so we will run out of beach to play on at this point in the day. Hopefully the weather will be kind and the day will be lots of fun with a short worship on the beach service, picnics (bring your own), sand castles, beach games and ice-creams etc.
Summer Holidays
Sunday Club will be closed from 27th June to 31st August 2008, inclusive; the first Sunday back will be Junior Worship on 7th September.
